Wedding at the Orchard in Hood River

Julia and Ander’s Wedding took place at the Orchard in Hood River. The Orchard is one of the most popular wedding venues in Oregon. It has gorgeous view of the mountain, surrounded by the freshness of the fruit trees and nature views, and yet very windy.

Julia requested to have two hairstyles for her wedding day. During her Bridal Hair Preview, she shared with me she would like to have braids in her hair for the first look, and she would like to have her hair down for the second look after the ceremony so she could feel more of herself.

To create Julia’s first wedding hairstyle, I decided to incorporate a braid in the wedding updo. Adding a braid to the updo gives some visual movements to the hair and gives an effortless feel. An updo is a perfect choice for an outdoor wedding ceremony.  Although the Orchard in Hood River offers a spectacular view, it is also known for its windy weather. By having her hair in a beautiful updo, Julia didn’t have to worry about the hair might get in her way, covering her face during the wedding ceremony or get in the way as she is sharing her ceremony speech. 

For the second wedding hairstyle, I restructured her hair completely after the ceremony so Julia could have a new style for her wedding reception. I created a half-up half-down hairstyle with soft curls that are similar to beach waves to complement her modern-looking wedding gown. Leaving the right amount of face-framing pieces, they gives a lot of softness to this effortless hairstyle.

It is always an amazing feeling to be able to help our bride’s vision come to life. Creating our client’s dream wedding hairstyle is always a collaboration between the bride and the artist. A process that involves trust and expertise.
